Evaluating business innovation is an important indicator of economic activity

There is currently unprecedented enthusiasm for collaboration, and start-up and scale-up businesses in the Hunter. Our 2015 research project produced a detailed assessment of the current challenges and needs in the innovation, start-up and commercialisation space in the Hunter in collaboration with the Hunter Founders Forum.

This long-term project, which collected data from local businesses through our regular Hunter Pulse research program focusses on:

  • What motivates local businesses to innovate
  • Extent of inventiveness
  • Factors motivating the introduction of new products and services
  • Design and development of new products and services

Our latest business innovation research was conducted in March 2017 and the key findings will be reported at our Economic Breakfast on 26 May as part of the annual Hunter Innovation Festival.
